Taj Mahal, Wokingham (14th June 2005) by thomo

General Comments:

We gathered in far flung Wokingham, in line with the mission of ROT, (see the home page), the founders minus Neil, to enjoy good company, beer and curry. Mission accomplished.

Pub Notes:
(The Ship (Wokingham))

First time to visit the Ship and we settled into the corner seat with views in two directions, of the chruch and the race-track that is Wokinghams one-way system. This led to watching the quality motors of the well heeled locals and the inevitable discussion of the need to update ours. Nice idea, but the cash implication means it was idle chatter.

The new Discovery summer ale was not available due to the need to change the barrell, (selling well!) and clean the pipes. I'm always happy to wait for the staff to clean the pies with each barrel change, this level of care bodes well. The Pride was nice and bitter, the Discovery which followed is a much lighter ale.

The Ship is nice and bright pub with friendly staff.

Ruby Notes: A return to the Taj Mahal, which we have not visited for more than a year, to be reminded that this is a reliable establishement. Not a murmur of discontent was heard about what we ordered and clean plates soon followed. The chicken tikka and sag jalfreeze was a hit. The lighter decoration creates a nice atmosphere, if a little smokey and the over enthusiastic a/c a little cold. The Taj supplies my take-away most weekends, so it is my first choice for Ruby in the area.
