Tandoori Raj, Red Lion St., Holborn (5th April 2005) by Basky

General Comments:

Some considerable effort and time was spent selecting this central venue, only to be rewarded with one of the poorest turnouts in the history of ROT. It will not go to waste however as I think that both pub and ruby warrant a return visit. Special thanks to Gerard and Newts for valiantly taking on heavy traffic, congestion charging and the perils of parking in central London in order to attend a venue, that for many ROTers, would have been a convenient train/tube ride away.

Pub Notes:
(Old Nick)

Old Nick is all that it's cracked up to be and more. Friendly staff, and tasty, well-kept Badgers Best and Tangle Foot. The beer also gained the approval of master brewer, and potential ROT recruit, Mr. Jeremy Holt, who joined us for a couple before heading off to a prior engagement.

Ruby Notes:

The restaurant, a stones-throw from the pub, had a fairly standard menu. Every dish we ordered was well prepared and carried distinctive flavours. The service was good, and the verdict from my bucolic buddies was that it was worth the journey.
