Jashan, Turnpike Lane (31st May 2005) by Jim

General Comments:

So it finally came to pass, ROT busted out of it's straitjacket and hit North London

Pub Notes:
(The Salisbury Hotel)

I was worried that we would have a poor turnout but I didn't count on the adventurous spirit that runs through ROT. 5 members turned up including Neil , Steve, Zip and Junior. The country members were all absent with good reason although we decided to try and catch out the other hairless member as his 'work do' excuse seemed rather lame. Sure enough he was caught red handed at home. He attempted to pretend he was 'just leaving'.......at 7pm??? GRN, over to you for a heavy fine. Anyway he missed out on a beautiful example of the Victorian pub.

We installed ourselves in a rather magnificent alcove and proceeded to discuss the events of the day.  The beer was a new brew by Fullers called Discovery and it was rather good; quite light and summery. I was told to mark the pub down by the Zip because of the chewing gum I found stuck under my seat.

Ruby Notes:

A limousine took us the short trip up to Jashan on Turnpike Lane. (high paid execs winging over the fare!)Here we were served lovely food from Northern India. We all drunk the usual Kingfisher but the poppadums were an unusual spiced type, very good though. I had fish for my main course , which was up to it's usual standard and everyone else seemed to be happy with their choices.

Instead of the usual After Eight we were presented we somthing that looked like Pot Pourri. After chewing this for a few minutes we were told that we should be spittting it out...silly English people. Best thing about the night was that I could stagger off down the road to the family whilst the others had to throw themselves at the mercy of public transport......
